Our History
After becoming a veterinary hospital in the early 60’s, primarily a large animal facility, it soon transitioned to a mixed practice – Atlantic Street Animal Hospital. Shortly after it was purchased in 1997, then named Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital, we added 24 hour emergency care in 1999, and became what we are known to as today, Atlantic Street Pet Emergency Center. The first remodel was completed in 2003 when it became an emergency-only hospital; additional structural updates followed in 2006 and 2010.
In April 2018, Atlantic Street Pet Emergency Center joined Ethos Veterinary Health, a network of specialty and emergency hospitals with locations throughout the U.S. Ethos Veterinary Health was formed in December 2015. Working primarily by referral from primary care veterinarians, the hospitals in Ethos’ network provide advanced veterinary medicine and high-quality, compassionate care that improves the lives of pets and their owners.
Community Involvement
Atlantic Street serves the community by offering the following services through volunteering, educational programs, and providing services for non-profits:
Animal Control
We are contracted with the City of Roseville and Folsom to provide care for sick and injured lost pets. If you find a pet in one of these jurisdictions, please bring the injured pet into our facility so that we can provide the love and medical care that they need and deserve.
Education
Our doctors and staff participate at local schools and community events to promote pet health, first aid, as well as education to students on career opportunities within veterinary medicine.
Volunteer
Veterinarians and staff donate time and money to serve various organizations throughout the community. Some of these include taking part in local spay and neuter programs, serving as board members for The Chester Foundation, and fostering.
Dogs and cats referred to Atlantic Street by a referring veterinarian will be treated only for the condition for which they were referred. No routine procedures, such as vaccinations or heartworm testing, will be performed on any referral or referral emergency patient.
